Project Manager - Software Development


FLSA Status: Exempt

Jackson Walker, Texas’ largest law firm, has an exciting full-time employment opportunity for a Project Manager in our Dallas office. The ideal candidate will possess a PMP certification and have extensive knowledge of Software Development Lifecycles (SDLC), app development, and coding languages such as C#, .Net, and React. This role prefers a bachelor’s degree and proficiency in using Scrum, Agile, or Waterfall methodologies. Experience with project management software like Project, Planner, PowerBI, Jira, Asana, Trello, or Monday.com, is essential. This role supports and drives projects by planning, scheduling, assessing risk, and defining project scope through the software lifecycle. These tasks Include tracking of application development from requests, inception to completion, collaboration across teams, communication strategy, and documenting the process, including prioritizing tasks and requests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manage technical application development projects from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, scope, and objectives.
  • Drive project priorities that align with firm and stakeholder goals.
  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and status reports using project management software (Project, PowerBi, Jira,).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the development team, leveraging knowledge of C#, .Net, and React.
  • Oversee the software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring adherence to best practices and methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Coordinate with team members, vendors, and stakeholders to develop schedules and establish milestones.
  • Create and manage project plans across complex cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare and communicate senior management reports on program status and metrics.
  • Keep stakeholders apprised of project status, including milestones and timelines, changes, risks, and success of projects.
  • Communications skills are essential for this position including communicating within the AppDev team and IT; communicating with stakeholders, Practice Groups and Departments; as well as preparing firm-wide communications on projects.
  • Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement solutions to keep projects on track.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP certification is required.
  • Experience in technical project management, with a strong understanding of SDLC and app development.
  • Proficiency in coding languages such as C#, .Net, JavaScript and React.
  • Extensive experience with project management methodologies (Scrum, Agile, Waterfall).
  • Familiarity with project management software such as PowerBI, Project, Asana, Trello, Monday.com, or Jira.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Software experience: PowerBi, Microsoft Office, Azure,
  • Working experience of 3-5 years minimum as a Project Manager
  • Experience with creating and managing project requirements, scope, budget, objectives, and milestones.
  • Ability to communicate efficiently with key stakeholder, vendors, and team members.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.
    • High school diploma or GED required.

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ relevant experience
  • Prior law firm experience preferred.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise and temperature.
